I&#8217;ll show you what I mean.<\/p>\n<p>I want to search for this URL:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/energyorbit.com\/2006\/02\/07\/tidal-power-attracts-uk-prize-money.html\">http:\/\/energyorbit.com\/2006\/02\/07\/tidal-power-attracts-uk-prize-money.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I turn to a trusty (no sarcasm intended) search engine and enter this search string:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;UK venture capital firm Connect Yorkshire is running&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>which is the opening sentence of the blog post. Fair enough?<\/p>\n<p>The much revered Google <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=UK+venture+capital+firm+Connect+Yorkshire+is+running&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8\">returns<\/a> a list of semi-relevant links and then only the <a href=\"http:\/\/energyorbit.com\/category\/marine\/\">catergory<\/a> of the blog post.<\/p>\n<p>MSN Search, on the other hand, <a href=\"http:\/\/search.msn.com\/results.aspx?q=UK+venture+capital+firm+Connect+Yorkshire+is+running+&amp;FORM=QBHP\">returns<\/a> both the exact URL and the category as the second and third results on the first page &#8211; bingo! Furthermore, the link <a href=\"http:\/\/search.msn.com\/results.aspx?q=site:energyorbit.com+UK+venture+capital+firm+Connect+Yorkshire+is+running+&amp;FORM=MSRE\">&#8220;Show more results from &#8220;energyorbit.com&#8221;&#8221;<\/a> gives the relevant categories AND the page number URL. In contrast Google&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&amp;lr=&amp;q=related:energyorbit.com\/category\/marine\/\">&#8220;Similar pages&#8221;<\/a> displays nothing, not even the original search result.<\/p>\n<p>Looks like Google&#8217;s presence has forced Microsoft into creating a better search engine.
