Shucks, as it&#8217;s such a brave new area for me I thought I&#8217;d document the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>My first report was on the recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberlawcentre.org\/2006\/gpl\/\">GPL v3 Symposium<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unsw.edu.au\">UNSW<\/a>. See the Cyberspace Policy and Law Centre&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberlawcentre.org\/unlocking-ip\/\">Unlocking IP project<\/a> for an example of the work it does (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyberlawcentre.org\/unlocking-ip\/blog\/2006\/12\/gplv3-and-australia-symposium-in.html\">thanks Catherine<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The symposium was quite a who&#8217;s who of the local free software community. As you might expect there were a few familiar faces&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pipka.org\/blog\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gedda.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/pia_waugh_tv.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tridge was there speaking about all things GPL which was, as always, very informative and entertaining.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.samba.org\/~tridge\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gedda.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/tidge_cw_tv.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of the report I interviewed hot-shot Sydney lawyer Brendan Scott about the key differences between GPL v2 and v3.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.opensourcelaw.biz\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gedda.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/brendan_scott_tv.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A big thanks to all who congratulated me on the report. To answer some FAQs:<\/p>\n<p>1. Static links are coming, so soon you will be able to link directly to IDG&#8217;s Web TV episodes.<\/p>\n<p>2. While low-res Flash may not give it justice, yes this is actually a professional TV production with a professional cameraman, professional recording\/editing studio, professional video editing software, professional video editor, and not-so-professional reporter.<\/p>\n<p>3.
