{"id":46,"date":"2005-08-30T17:50:47","date_gmt":"2005-08-30T07:50:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gedda.info\/?p=46"},"modified":"2014-03-29T13:21:27","modified_gmt":"2014-03-29T03:21:27","slug":"back-on-the-gold-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gedda.info\/?p=46","title":{"rendered":"Back on the Gold Coast!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not since the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessobjects.com\">Business Objects<\/a> conference in November last year have I been back to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.australia-goldcoast.com.au\/\">Gold Coast<\/a>, well, until today that is \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>After taking off from Sydney at 14:45 I&#8217;m now typing this from my room at the iconic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.conrad.com.au\/jupiters\/default.htm\">Conrad Jupiters<\/a> hotel casino. The hotel has broadband and wireless &#8211; whoa! &#8211; i hear you say? That&#8217;s what I said but then I saw the stick-up price:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; $9.95 per hour, or<br \/>\n&#8211; $24.95 per day<\/p>\n<p>Sorry, I ain&#8217;t gonna pony up for broadband at those prices, so dial-up wins. But I must say I am happy to be staying at Jupiters. Many years ago a friend who I grew up with moved to the Gold Coast and I have been coming here at least twice a year since &#8217;95. And every time I come hear I wonder what it would be like to stay in the hotel. Cool!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m here for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\">Microsoft&#8217;s<\/a> annual Tech.Ed conference (any burning questions <a href=\"http:\/\/planet.linux.org.au\">Planet LA?<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>I did bring my camera so I&#8217;ll post some Gold Coast glamour pics later.
