Rather than post my random Gold Coast snaps from the two recent trips in separate blogs I’ve put together a collection of the best pics.
This is quite a clear shot of the famous Conrad Jupiters hotel casino where I was staying for Tech.Ed. That was taken from the bridge connecting it with the new convention and exhibition centre.
This is the exhibition centre from the same footbridge, just facing north.
My room’s window at Jupiters was facing west, so unfortunately no Gold Coast skyscraper views but a good look into the backyards of houses with their own wharfs. There’s just something about being able to park your boat at the back of your house that really appeals to me.
At Networkers I stayed at the Marriott which on the northern side of the Coast. In between Jupiters and the Marriott is the world’s tallest residential apartment building, dubbed Q One. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to get any close-ups of Q One but here’s the best distant shot.
That was taken from outside the exhibition centre.
At the Marriott, the landing on the fifteenth floor has a good view of some more houses with boats parked in their backyards.
Ahh well, something to dream about until I return.

That gcoast_conf_centre.jpg is 2304×1728 pixels in size: the browser is shrinking it here but you should see it on planet.linux.org.au !
Boats do not park in backyards, they are moored. Can’t believe I even have to edit your blog copy, not just your Computerworld copy.
Aww… boss, that’s just mean.
Am I able to edit your sense of humour settings?
🙂

There might be boats on trailers that are parked in their backyards, so you could put up a case that you’re correct!
The moored ones are probably in their front yards.
